"Cougar effect" boosts lingerie sales

Sales of sultry lingerie among older women are booming in Britain thanks to the glamorous 40-somethings of "Sex and the City 2" and "Cougar Town," retail chain Debenhams reported on Thursday.

The hit TV show, and forthcoming movie, featuring the bedroom antics of women in their 40s and 50s and their much younger partners, is being credited with a rise in demand for lingerie from women of the same age, Debenhams said.

The department store said a nationwide analysis of the most popular lingerie styles from October 2009 to April 2010, revealed that women over 40 have given the more seductive side of the lingerie industry a big boost.

"Positive female role models in this age group such as the women in the Sex and the City movies and Courteney Cox in TV's Cougar Town are giving the women confidence to splash out on themselves," Debenhams head lingerie buyer Annette Warburton said in a statement.

Women over 40 were rediscovering their figures, often after having children or getting divorced.

Previously, the store said, the main purchasers of cleavage-enhancing bras, basques, thongs, stockings and suspenders, have been women in their early 20s.

"With women's 40s being touted as the new 20s, and lingerie designers stepping up to the mark to feed this demand, it's a market we expect to see grow further in the future," Warburton said.

Brazilians told to have more sexual intercourse to avoid illness

Brazilians can fight off chronic illness by engaging regularly in physical exercise, and particularly in sexual intercourse, the country's health minister said.

"People need to be active. A weekend football game must not be the only physical activity for a Brazilian. Adults need to do exercise: walk, dance and have safe sex," said Jose Gomes Temporao.

The minister gave the advice as he launched a campaign to prevent high blood pressure, which afflicts a quarter of Brazil's 190-million strong population.

After making his unusual comments, Mr Temporao defended his promotion of sexual intercourse to journalists, according to the G1 news website.

"It's not a joke. It's serious. Having regular physical exercises also means sex, always with protection of course," he said.

"Dancing, having sex, keeping weight under control, changing dietary habits, doing physical exercise" all help keep blood pressure down, he said.

He added that he believed there was a health "time bomb" ticking in Brazil, which within 20 years could see a "gigantic percentage" of the population suffering chronic illnesses, high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol.

Playboy Photographers Reality TV - Finds it Hard!

Main Image
Main Image
They thought it would be all fun and glamour, but when 10 photographers recently gathered for a new reality TV show, they learned there was more to taking pictures of naked women than a good camera lens.

"Playboy Shootout," which premiered this past Saturday on cable television's subscriber-only Playboy Channel puts the photographers together in tandem with 10 models and each group -- shooters and models -- compete to have their work featured in the legendary men's magazine founded by Hugh Hefner.

While perhaps many a young man has dreamed of shooting a nude centerfold for Playboy, only few ever make the grade.

Playboy editorial director Jimmy Jellinek said the magazine annually gets "thousands and thousands" of submissions from photographers, but it is the rare exception who gets picked.

Stephen Wayda, a longtime Playboy photographer and judge on "Shootout," said he tried unsuccessfully for years before finally making it into the magazine's pages and onto a stellar career as a celebrity photographer.

"People think it's all fun, sex and glamour. They don't realize when you're doing nudes there's a lot more to it. You see all the body. You see the wrinkles in the waist when (models) turn. You see how the body is built, and you have to make it look good," Wayda said.

For "Shootout," Playboy gathered the photographers from around the United States and put them together in Los Angeles. The first episode had them assigned to take pictures of the models in a different area of a luxurious mansion, and they were given a time limit to devise a theme, set lighting, pick a costume and put the models through hair and makeup.

A MAN'S WORLD?

A major feature is that the models are competing to be in the magazine, too, and because they are looking for the best pictures possible, they sometimes conflict with the shooters.

"I've gained confidence in myself after doing the show, and I realized that having (many) crew members around me didn't distract me," said photographer Eric LaCour.

Kate Romero, one of two women among the photographers, said she believed being the same gender as the models helped her because she might be able to say things to calm their fears about posing naked in front of a large crew.

"It is a guys' world, definitely," said Romero. "(but) I love that kind of challenge."

Wayda said all the photographers came into the show with strong portfolios of past work, and for many the biggest problem was tailoring their own work to match Playboy's pages.

Under Hefner, the magazine' has always tried to feature models with a homespun, girl-next-door look.

"Some came in and said, 'I want to do something completely different,'" Wayda said. "Well, that's great, so go open up your own magazine."

The series, which ends on June 5, is produced by "America's Next Top Model" director Claudia Frank and hosted by "The Celebrity Apprentice 2" contender and Playboy Playmate Brande Roderick. A new episode airs every week on Saturdays as part of what Playboy is calling its "Date Night" lineup of shows.

Died while having sex in the car

A Russian couple having sex in a car parked in a tiny garage have died from carbon monoxide poisoning, Interfax news agency reported on Tuesday.

"A man and a woman retreated to their Volkswagen to have sex... Most likely the lovers turned on the engine to get warm," Interfax reported, citing a source in the Moscow police force. During a moment of "intimate closeness," the pair, in southern Moscow, inhaled the gas and died, the source added.

Many Russians keep their cars in box-like iron garages near their homes, which snugly encase their cars.

Duck penises show "arms race" between sexes

Several species of ducks have evolved complicated genitals in what appears to be an "arms race" between the sexes, researchers reported on Tuesday.

And females may be coming out ahead, said the team of biologists at Yale University in Connecticut and the University of Sheffield in Britain.

Their findings not only open a window into a little-studied area of biology, but could help shed light on how evolution works to help both males and females control their own breeding, the researchers said.

Patricia Brennan of both Yale and Sheffield was trying to figure out why some species of birds have penises and some do not.

"Birds are the only group where it mostly has been lost -- 97 percent of birds do not have phalluses at all," Brennan said in a telephone interview.

"So if it is such a handy tool, why don't they have them any more?" Brennan asked.

Instead, they mate using what biologists call a "cloacal kiss" -- a brief touch of the single opening that birds of both sexes have for disposing of waste and that both eggs and sperm come out of.

Brennan noted that in many species, females choose a mate after he puts on an elaborate courtship display, and breeding pairs are often monogamous.

An exception is ducks -- especially mallards. Although mallards pair off to mate, females are often raped by stray males.

Yet studies show that these rapes do not pay off for the males. "Even in a species where 40 percent of the copulations are forced copulations, the ducklings still are mostly sired by the mates," Brennan said.

"That implies the females may have some kind of mechanism that allows them to keep control of the paternity."

So Brennan's team looked at a lot of duck bottoms.

What they found surprised them -- corkscrew-shaped oviducts, with plenty of potential dead-ends.

"Interestingly, the male phallus is also a spiral, but it twists in the opposite, counterclockwise, direction," said Yale ornithologist Richard Prum in a statement.

"So, the twists in the oviduct appear designed to exclude the opposing twists of the male phallus. It's an exquisite anti-lock-and-key system."

Brennan believes females evolved convoluted oviducts to foil the male rapists.

"You can envision an evolutionary scenario that, as the male phallus increases in size, the female creates more barriers. You get this evolutionary arms race," Brennan said.

Only if the female is relaxed and cooperative can the male's sperm get anywhere near the unfertilized eggs, the researchers suggest.

"What I think is really cool is this does speak a lot about the ability of the female to have these cryptic mechanisms of choice," Brennan said.

And it may mean something for people. "We can expect that these types of antagonistic traits are probably widespread and are likely part of the reproductive interactions of all sorts of animals, including humans," Brennan said.

Couple Caught Having Sex, Crash Car in Johor

What is Malaysia turning to?? Aiyoh!

A COUPLE caught having sex in a car tried to escape from the police but ended up being involved in a road accident in Johor.

The male driver, in his haste to outrun a police patrol car, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the back of a bus at 10pm on Tuesday.

The man, who is said to be married, suffered head injuries.

The woman, in her 20s, was found squatting in the front passenger's seat after the accident.

Purity Balls : Young Girls Vow to Put off Sex until Marriage

"Dream dates" have a whole new meaning for a growing group of teenage girls.

The young ladies get dressed up from head to toe -- all for a formal night out with their fathers.

The focus is on bonding, and promising to stay pure until marriage.

The Markle sisters are primping for a big dance, but for the girls, there's one important difference: their date is their dad.

And the big dance???

It's called a Purity Ball.

It has all the hallmarks of a wedding: vows are exchanged, there's a white cake, even a first dance.

But instead of fathers giving away their daughters' hands, they're holding on tight.

One dad said, "As a father, I here pledge to protect my daughter and to respect her."

"In today's day and age, if the daughters are sexually active before they're married, that ceremony really is meaningless because the father's not giving anyone away," said dad Brett Markle.

Tonight, the girls make a solemn pledge to their father.

Sarah Markle, 12 years old, said, "I'm going to stay pure until I'm married, and I'm not going to date or kiss a boy or anything until I'm married."

Purity balls like this one are growing in popularity.

There were dozens held last year -- some paid for partly with federal money from President Bush's abstinence initiative funds.

But critics say if these girls are only learning abstinence, they're not being taught important information about STD's and condoms.

"I could see it winding up in more teenage pregnancies and that type of thing, because they don't know everything that they need to know," said Deanne Keegan, a United Church of Christ youth counselor.

Brittany Baysor admits it might be tough to keep the pledge.

Baysor, a freshman at a public high school, took the pledge. She said, "Some of the boys joke around with it. They say it won't work. They think I'm going to get drunk at a party sometime and have sex with the first guy I meet."

But the dads at this event say they don't care what the world has to say, because they believe their relationship with their daughters will help them stay strong.

The first Purity Ball was thrown in 1998 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Today, hundreds are planned each year in cities across the country.

Viagra Replicas snapped up as Offerings to Ancestors

- Now things are getting scarry and weird in the after-life!!!

And what are they gonna do with it there ?-

CHINESE cemeteries are selling paper replicas of Viagra pills to be burned for dead relatives as a wish for satisfying sex in the afterlife, state media reported yesterday.

Customers are snapping up the paper Viagra, as well as images of condoms and heavily made-up bar girls ahead of the annual Tombsweeping Festival on April 5, the Nanjing Morning News reported.

Chinese have traditionally burned fake money in honour of dead relatives during the festival, when families clean their ancestors' tombs and graves.

They believe the wealth will accrue to their ancestors in the afterlife.

But China's move towards a more consumer-oriented society has seen new offerings including paper televisions, mobile phones, cars and other luxury items.

A commentary in the Beijing Morning Post yesterday called for a crackdown on the sex-related “vice” offerings.

However, it said efforts by authorities to halt the sales had been unsuccessful due to high demand.

Now they say only 3% of Girls had Sex

KUALA LUMPUR: Only three per cent of the 887 students who participated in a high-risk female youth profile study had admitted to having had sex, according to the final report of the study commissioned by Institut Perkembangan Minda (Inmind).

Inmind chief executive Norizan Sharif said a report quoting Dr Khaizir Ismail, lecturer at the Psychology and Human Development Centre of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, as saying that all but one of the 887 students had admitted to having had sex was inaccurate.

Norizan said the outcome of the study differed because of a mistake in data entry.

"The consultant team identified a mistake in data entry from the questionnaire to the Statistical Package for Social Science software," he said yesterday.

Norizan said the final report of the study found that sex before marriage had the lowest percentage in the list of anti-social demeanour of the respondents.

Four types of anti-social demeanour recorded percentages above 70 per cent — lying (90.5 per cent), loafing (80.1 per cent), playing truant (74.1 per cent) and being late for school (73.7 per cent).

Female Students High on Sex and Drugs says UKM

KUALA LUMPUR: Except for one, all the 887 female students with disciplinary problems interviewed admitted to having had sex, according to a Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia study.

The study also showed that apart from sex, most of the respondents took drugs, were involved in pornography, secret societies, vandalism and truancy.

The study, conducted by UKM Children and Youth Psychology specialist Dr Khaidzir Ismail, found all the female students save one confessing to have had experienced the “pleasure of the flesh”.

The three-month High Risk Female Youth Profile Study, which ended last December, took 20 students with disciplinary problems from each school, ranging from Form One to Form Five, as its respondents.

“It is sad and shocking to find all except one of the respondents admitted to having experienced sex.

“This is painful finding but it is a reality that we have to accept,” he said.

It is understood that the study was a Selangor government’s initiative to find a handle to the deteriorating moral values among the female youth in the state.

From the study, the state government aims to formulate a special training module to promote high moral values among girls.

Dr Khaidzir said the study also found that the female students, aged between 15 and 16, were at a high risk of being involved in various discipline problems, including those related to sex.

“The study also found that the problems committed by these students were due to external pressure like coming from broken homes,” he said.

Khaidzir said most of the students were poor in their academic achievements, communication skills and had low self-esteem and self-control as well as problem solving capabilities.

To Live Long, Abstain from Sex

HONG KONG - A 107-year-old Hong Kong villager, who still enjoys an occasional smoke, has attributed his longevity in part to decades of sexual abstinence, a newspaper said on Sunday.

"I don't know why I have lived this long," Chan Chi -- one of Hong Kong's oldest people -- was quoted as saying in the South China Morning Post during an annual feast for the city's elders.

"Maybe it has to do with the fact that I have lived a sex-less life for many years -- since I was 30," said Chan, a widower whose youthful bride perished during the Japanese invasion in World War Two.

Chan, from Hong Kong's less built-up New Territories hinterland, was pictured looking sprightly and eating heartily at the banquet.

A former chef, he said a low-fat diet and regular dawn exercises had helped him fight off the ravages of old age.

But the centenarian, who's had no difficulty living a monastic existence for nearly 80 years, admits the pleasures of tobacco have been harder to resist.

"Now I want to quit," he was quoted as saying of his decades-long cigarette addiction. "Maybe the government should ban cigarette sales so I can give it up," he added.

Sex in Highway Halts Traffic on Road

JERUSALEM - Israeli police investigating why a car was blocking traffic in the fast lane of a major highway Sunday found a couple inside having sex.

A police spokesman said the female driver and her male passenger gave in to their passions without pulling over to the side of the road, causing congestion and leaving other motorists having to swerve to dodge their stationary vehicle.

A patrolman gave the woman a ticket for holding up traffic.

Positive trend in Women’s Sexuality in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Nine out of 10 women in Malaysia say it’s essential to talk about sex with their partners. Two in five still wish for improvements in their sex lives.

These are the findings of the "Sex and The Modern Woman" survey commissioned by Bayer Schering Pharma.

The survey was part of an extensive global research programme to bring attention to the widespread prevalence of erectile dysfunction (ED).

The survey questioned 1,010 women above 18 years on the importance of sexuality, occurrence and their views on ED.

It found that sexual satisfaction and communication remained the key factors to a successful and healthy relationship.

The survey also found that nearly half of Malaysian women aged between 40 and 65 were "vitalsexuals". These women placed importance on their sexual satisfaction, had higher expectations of their sex lives and expressed a more positive attitude towards a partner with ED.

They also considered public information as an important source to enable discussions on ED.

Bayer Schering Pharma country division head Ashraf Al-Ouf said the rise in "vital-sexuals" was timely as they would actively engage their partners, who suffered from ED, to seek treatment.

"It is no secret that the battle against ED must be won by the couple and not the man alone."

Many men with ED put their partner’s psychological and sexual well-being at risk by suffering in silence, he said.

One Third of Britons Ignorant about Sex

LONDON - Nearly one in three Britons think that if a woman jumps up and down, washes or urinates immediately after sex, she can prevent pregnancy, a survey revealed Monday.

It was one of a string of revelations in the survey carried out by the Family Planning Association (fpa) at the start of Contraceptive Awareness Week.

They reveal "widespread confusion and misunderstanding" about some of the basic facts, said the fpa, which has called for improved sex and relationships education in schools.

"In today's sexualized society, we are bombarded with a multitude of sexual imagery and messages," said Anne Weyman, chief executive of fpa.

"Nevertheless, providing people with the information and skills they need to make positive choices about their health and lives is not considered a priority."

One in five pregnancies currently ends in abortion, the fpa said.

The survey showed that half the 500 people questioned did not know that a woman's most fertile time is between 10 and 16 days before her next period.

The poll, carried out by Gfk NOP, also revealed that 89 percent of respondents were unaware that it is possible for sperm to live inside a woman's body for up to seven days.

Nearly 25 percent incorrectly thought that the fluid a man produces before he ejaculates does not contain sperm.

Most blamed their ignorance on a lack of sex education at school, with 18 percent of the 18 to 65-year-olds questioned saying they never had any such lessons.

"None of us is born with the facts about sex and reproduction -- we are taught them," Weyman added.

"If this doesn't happen, myths start getting into circulation and people end up not being able to tell fact from fiction.

"If contraception isn't used or if it fails, instead of seeking professional help and advice people may take action that is completely ineffective in preventing a pregnancy."

Viagra sold over counter on Valentine's Day

LONDON - Men will be able to buy impotence treatment Viagra over the counter in Britain for the first time from Valentine's Day, chemist chain Alliance Boots said on Sunday.

Three Manchester Boots pharmacies will sell the prescription-only medication made by U.S. drugs group Pfizer in a pilot program from February 14.

Men aged between 30 and 65 suffering from erectile dysfunction will be able to buy four Viagra pills for 50 pounds ($97) without having to get a prescription from a doctor first.

Instead, they will have a private consultation with a Boots pharmacist, when their medical history will be checked and measurements taken of their blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose levels.

On a return visit patients will see a private doctor to ensure they are suitable for a further supply of pills.

"By creating a service that is easily accessible on the high street we hope that we help many more men seek help for a very common condition," said Boots Director of Healthcare Alex Gourlay.

He said it was estimated that only one in 10 men suffering from erectile dysfunction were currently being treated.

Boots already offers similar services for weight loss, hair retention and chlamydia treatment.

A national roll out of the Viagra service will be assessed later in the year.

Sex vs Clothes: What do Women Want?

NEW YORK - For most women, the choice between sex and a new wardrobe is simple -- they go for the clothes.

Women on average say they would be willing to give up sex for 15 months for a closet full of new apparel, with 2 percent ready to abstain from sex for three years in exchange for new duds, according to a new survey of about 1,000 women in 10 U.S. cities.

Sixty-one percent of women polled said it would be worse to lose their favorite article of clothing than give up sex for a month.

"Some people say clothes make the man, but the right clothes can even replace him," fashion designer, stylist and TV personality Carson Kressley from the reality TV show "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" said in a statement accompanying the poll.

The study also suggested that clothes often wear better than relationships.

The average woman between 18 and 54 years of age has hung on to her favorite article of clothing for 12 and a half years, a year longer than she's held on to her longest relationship.

Almost three-quarters of respondents, or 70 percent, also said they believed in love at first sight when it came to finding the perfect article of clothing, while only 54 percent of women were as confident in spotting the right man.

Nearly half of the women, or 48 percent, taking part in the survey by consumer products giant Unilever said their favorite article of clothing was more reliable than their man in giving them confidence and making them feel sexy.

Police investigate sexual abuse of corpses

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australian police are investigating a report that bodies donated to a Sydney university for medical research were sexually abused and that coffins were filled with parts from multiple bodies.

A Sydney newspaper reported Tuesday that University of New South Wales (NSW) documents showed that body parts had been interfered with sexually in the school of anatomy, which had its license to conduct anatomy classes revoked last November over improper labeling and storage of human remains.

The Sydney Morning Herald said university documents showed a staff member fondled breasts and vaginas of bodies and used the head of one body in a degrading way.

It also said body parts had not been placed in correct coffins, and coffins were filled with parts from multiple bodies.

"These are appalling and deeply concerning allegations. The matter has now been referred to police," NSW state Health Minister John Hatzistergos told reporters.

"The generosity of people who donate their bodies for medical research benefit us all in the training of our doctors and the advancement of medical research," said Hatzistergos.

"These people, and their families, deserve to know their remains are being treated with dignity and respect."

An audit of the anatomy department last November found bodies and body parts had been mixed up and that the university may have to conduct DNA testing to identity them, the Sydney Morning Herald said.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Richard Henry said the university was still trying to identify which bodies were involved and had yet to contact families.

"We'd like to apologize for any distress those families are suffering at the moment," Henry told local radio. "The difficulty is we are still trying to fully understand what happened."

US Parents more concerned with Media than Sex

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. parents are more worried about the amount of time their kids spend watching television or meeting friends on Internet social networks than about sex or alcohol abuse, according to a new study.

The study was released on Monday by Insight Research Group and commissioned by Common Sense Media, a San Francisco-based group that studies the impact of media on kids.

Some 57 percent of 1,138 U.S. parents surveyed were either very concerned or strongly concerned about children spending too much of their time with different media outlets. By comparison, about 45 percent of parents said they were as concerned about their kids engaging in sex or using alcohol.

"Intuitively, parents have a sense that too much media isn't a good thing, but they can't quite put their finger on why," James Steyer, founder and chief executive of Common Sense Media, said in a statement.

Parents also saw themselves as bearing the biggest responsibility for the way media affects their kids, well ahead of the companies that create TV shows or Internet content, who ranked third on the list.

Common Sense Media and the Aspen Institute are hosting a conference in New York this week where chief executives from some of the largest media companies -- Time Warner Inc. CBS Corp. Warner Music Group Corp. and Comcast Corp. -- will discuss the media's influence on kids.

TV viewing topped the list of media categories that worried parents, following by Internet use and playing video games. Listening to the radio and reading magazines were deemed as the safest types of media, according to the poll.

Concerns over their children struggling in school or developing a weight problem also ranked higher, at 55 percent and 46 percent of respondents, than sexual activity or alcohol use.

China teens casual about one-night stands

More than half of China's high school students find nothing wrong with one-night stands and an overwhelming majority of girls would not reject a boyfriend's demands for sex, a poll suggests.

Some 6.2 percent of the survey's 2,300 high school students in Xuanwu, a downtown district in the Chinese capital of Beijing, had already had a sexual experience and the average age of students losing their virginity was 15, the China Daily said on Thursday.

The results surprised educators, the newspaper said.

"The new generation is open-minded about sex," Zhang Meimei, a professor at Capital Normal University who was involved in the survey conducted last year, was quoted as saying.

"We can only conclude that it is a result of a fast-changing society."

China's traditional culture sanctifies abstinence and the ruling Communist Party is also officially puritanical, but three decades of market reforms have brought forth an ever more rebellious and diverse urban youth culture.

Of the 1,300 girls asked if they would agree to sex when asked by a boyfriend, only six gave a definite "no."

"The typical answer: 'As long as he loves me, it's OK'," the newspaper said.

About 200 respondents of both sexes said they would have a one-night stand if the opportunity arose, it added.

Such liberal attitudes to sex have sparked concerns over safe sex, with more than 40 percent of respondents who had had sex saying they did not use contraceptives for their first time, the China Daily said.

Underage girls accounted for about a quarter of the 1.5 million abortions in mainland China every year, and teenage pregnancies were on the rise, the newspaper said.

Schoolgirls Competing to be No.1 in Sex Game

A GROUP of female students in a secondary school in Johor Baru are said to be competing among themselves to be the one with the highest number of one-night stands, Nanyang Siang Pau reported.

Each of the 10 students in the group, aged between 13 and 15 years old, would fork out between RM50 and RM100 to be in the game.

The student with the highest number of sex partners within a month would get a “reward”, which ranged from between RM500 and RM1,000, said the report.

Usually, a student would need between 13 and 15 sex partners to claim the “reward”.
It was learnt that the school had expelled some students involved in the activity, but the report added that it was still going on.
